Werribee Gymnastics is always on the look out for up and coming coaches. Gymnastics experience is not essential, what we look for is a passion for teaching children, an interest in physical activity and the desire to learn to be a great coach.
We can support you to become a qualified coach in the following programs: Gymnastics for All, Womens Artistic Gymnastics and Kindergym.
The steps involved include:
Step 1: Trainee
During this time you will volunteer at the club observing and assisting qualified coaches in a range of different classes. This is for both you and the club to assess whether you are interested in pursuing a coach position and if you are a right fit for the club.
Step 2: Fundamentals Coach
Having successfully completed the trainee component you will be eligible to begin the training (online and face-to-face course) to become qualified as a Fundamentals coach. From this stage you will be paid for your coaching hours.
Once complete, you will coach your own classes under supervision.
You must be 15 years of age to complete this training.
Step 3: Intermediate Coach
Once you turn 16 years of age and you are deemed competent to coach unsupervised you will be able to complete an intermediate qualification in your chosen gymsport ie. Gymnastics for All, Kindergym or WAG
Once you are an intermediate coach you will be able to coach a greater range of classes and coach unsupervised.
Step 4: Advanced Coach
Once you turn 17 years of age and have gained extensive experience you will be able to complete your advanced qualification. This takes significant time so is for those interested in coaching high level gymnasts.
Further information can be found in the documents below and by contacting the club.
